JS Crackpots classes and workshops

Classes provide a choice of wheel work or handbuilding--see description bottom of this page.

Thursday evenings (current class ends Feb. 11, 2010--watch for next 6-week session info soon). 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Saturday or Sunday mornings (current sessions end Feb. 13 & 14, 2010. Check here for next 6-week session info)

Cost for the session is $100. Each student can purchase clay for $17 per 25 pound bag. Glazing and firing is included. Participants bring a small plastic bucket and their own tools, if you have them.

Winter 2010 workshops

February 6, 2010: Ceramic Tile Workshop Noon-4:30 p.m. Learn to create unique wall tiles, trivets, clocks and mirror frames from clay. First half of class will focus on creative use of clay slabs. Second half of class will experiment with certain types of glazing techniques. (Class includes instruction, clay and bisque tiles, firing, and glazing). Cost per person - $40.00. Limit 9 students.

February 27 12:30-4:30 p.m. & March 6, 2010 12:30-3:00 p.m.: Handbuilding Dinnerware Sets. This is a "starter" class for students who intend to continue with handbuilding. Day one will focus on use of forms or molds to create consistent, uniform "stackable" plates and bowls which can be used as dinnerware. Day two will focus on different glazing techniques. Each person should have time to complete one place setting. Cost per person - $75.00 (includes instruction, clay, firings, and glazing). Limit 6 students.

March 20 12:30-4:30 p.m. & Mar. 27, 2010 12:30-3:00 p.m. Slab-Built Vases. Learn some simple ways to roll textured slabs of clay into wonderful, useful shapes. Tall vessels can become vases and low, wide ones can be used for casseroles. Day one will be working with clay to form the vessels; day two will be for glazing. Each person should have time to complete 2-3 projects. Cost per person - $60.00 (includes instruction, clay, firings, and glazing). Limit 6 students.
